Our Story
Orleans & York was founded by Sami Othman, who grew up in his family’s deli in New York. By age 16, he opened his first shop, Aziz O Deli, honoring his father and beginning a lifelong commitment to the craft of great food. After moving to Los Angeles in 1982 with his wife, Maria, Sami brought his East Coast experience west, opening several delis before realizing his ultimate vision: blending the bold flavors of New York heroes with the soulful tradition of New Orleans po’ boys.
In 2013, that vision became Orleans & York Deli—a place where two iconic food cultures meet. The restaurant quickly earned citywide recognition, including TripAdvisor’s #1 Cajun & Creole spot in 2015 and Los Angeles Magazine’s award for Best Po’ Boy.
Today, Sami’s children proudly carry on the family legacy, expanding Orleans & York while staying true to the foundation their father built. His passion for quality, flavor, and hospitality continues to inspire everything we do.
